About Runestone
Professional Pool Care Starts With Paying Attention.
Runestone Pool Care was created to give East Valley homeowners consistent service, accurate water testing, honest explanations, and a professional they can trust in their backyard.

The Owner
Hi, I’m Dan.
I’m the owner and pool technician behind Runestone Pool Care. I work directly with homeowners throughout Mesa and the East Valley, bringing experience from both residential and commercial pool care.
I don’t believe in simply adding chemicals and moving on. I test the water, pay attention to how the entire pool is operating, and investigate when something doesn’t look right. Just as importantly, I’ll explain what I find so you understand what your pool actually needs.
Runestone is built around a straightforward approach: provide dependable service, communicate honestly, and care for every pool as though my own name is attached to it—because it is.

The Name
Why Runestone?
The name Runestone reflects my Scandinavian ancestry and the kind of company I want to build.
Across Scandinavia, runestones were raised as lasting markers—often preserving the memory of a person, an important event, or a meaningful accomplishment. Many have endured for more than a thousand years and remain preserved today.
I was drawn to the idea of building my own runestone: a company defined by the quality of its work, the standards it leaves behind, and something meaningful that can endure long after I am gone.
Our Purpose
Why Build Another Pool Company?
Runestone was not created simply to add another pool-service truck to the road. It was created around the belief that professional pool care should provide more than a completed checklist.
Homeowners should know whether their water was tested. They should be told when circulation is restricted, when equipment behavior changes, or when a developing condition deserves attention—and they should receive an explanation before being asked to approve a repair.
“Runestone exists to turn uncertainty into informed, consistent care.”
Consistency
Dependable care built around a repeatable professional process.
Clarity
Explain what was found, why it matters, and what should happen next.
Technical Attention
Consider chemistry, circulation, filtration, equipment, and conditions together.
Ownership
Responsibility for the quality of the service and the communication around it.
Our Approach
Look at the Whole System.
Chemistry, circulation, filtration, cleaning systems, equipment, weather, swimmer load, landscaping, and maintenance history all affect one another. When a pool develops a problem, the better question is not “What chemical should be added?” but what the system is telling us.
- What symptom is the pool showing?
- What changed?
- Is water moving correctly?
- Is the filter able to do its job?
- Is debris creating additional chlorine demand?
- What does the water testing actually show?
- What can prevent the condition from returning?
- 1
Observe
Start with the pool, equipment, environment, and reported concern.
- 2
Test
Use actual readings rather than assumptions.
- 3
Understand
See how chemistry, circulation, filtration, and equipment interact.
- 4
Act
Address the most meaningful condition first.
- 5
Verify
Confirm the service produced the intended result.
- 6
Communicate
Explain what happened and identify the next step.
Operating Principles
What Runestone Is Being Built Around.
Accuracy Before Assumption
Test the water and investigate the system before deciding what it needs.
Communication Before Surprises
Explain concerns, recommendations, and additional work before moving forward.
Prevention Before Reaction
Notice developing problems instead of waiting for complete failure.
Condition Before the Clock
Perform the meaningful work the pool needs rather than manufacturing time.
Documentation Before Confusion
Create a record of service, findings, authorization, and completed work.
Standards Before Scale
Build processes that support growth without lowering the customer experience.
Local Knowledge
Built Around the Reality of Arizona Pools.
East Valley pools face extreme heat, intense sunlight, rapid chlorine demand, high evaporation, hard water, dust, monsoon debris, heavy landscaping loads, and seasonal chemistry changes. Service priorities respond to temperature, weather, pool use, environmental load, and equipment performance.
Summer Demand
Heat, sunlight, evaporation, and increased use rapidly change chlorine demand and water balance.
Monsoon Conditions
Dust, wind, rain, and organic debris affect circulation and sanitizer demand before the water visibly changes.
Long-Term Water Care
Hard water, evaporation, stabilizer, salt, and mineral conditions are monitored over time—not only when a visible problem appears.
Customer Benefit
What This Means for Your Pool.
Test-Based Decisions
Treatment begins with water conditions and pool needs—not automatic chemical additions.
Clear Communication
When something deserves attention, Runestone explains the concern and next step.
Equipment Awareness
Visible circulation, cleaner, filter, and equipment conditions are observed during service.
Condition-Based Care
Priorities adapt to the pool, weather, season, and environmental load.
Documentation
Service information, photographs, readings, and recommendations are recorded and shared.
Honest Boundaries
Routine care, recovery, diagnostics, and repairs have clearly defined scopes and authorization.
Verified experience, certifications, licensing, and training are published as they are confirmed. Runestone shares only information that has been verified.
Service Area
Local Service With a Deliberate Footprint.
Runestone builds geographically concentrated routes throughout the East Valley. Better route density reduces unnecessary drive time, supports dependable service days, and allows greater attention to existing customers.
Request Service
Share your address and what your pool needs. Runestone will confirm route availability and recommend the appropriate next step.

A Note From Dan.
When someone trusts Runestone with their pool, they are also trusting us with their property, equipment, family environment, and peace of mind. I take that responsibility seriously.
My goal is to provide the kind of service I would want at my own home: consistent, informed, clearly communicated, and honest about what the pool actually needs.
